Anandtech hat einen Test zu den neuen AMD Atlon II X4 CPUs 620 und 630 veröffentlicht, die AMD gerade vorgestellt hat. Bei der Athlon II X4 Serie handelt es sich um besonders günstige QuadCore CPUs die auf den L3 Cache verzichten.

Die sonstigen Eckdaten sind im Vergleich zu den Phenom II CPUs unverändert. So verfügt jeder Kern über 512 kb L2 Cache. Der Athlon II X4 620 taktet mit 2,6 GHz der 630 mit 2,8 GHz.

Die Benchmarks von Anadtech bescheinigen den Athlon II X4 CPUs (Propus) insgesamt eine gute Leistung. Im Schnitt liegt die Performance im Bereich des Intel Q8200. Die Benchmarks zeigen allerdings auch die typischen “Probleme” der QuadCore CPUs. Gerade im Bereich der Anwendungen die nicht auf MultiCore CPUs optimiert sind (u.a. viele Spiele) sind viele DualCore CPUs (wie die Athlon II/Phenom II X2 Serie oder die Pentium DualCore-Serie) schneller. Auch die Phenom II X3 CPUs schlagen den Athlon II X4 in diesen Bereichen. Auftrumpfen können die CPUs allerdings im Bereich der MultiCore optimierten Software.

Die Messungen zur Leistungsaufnahme von Anandtech fallen recht positiv aus, wobei einige anderen Test der CPU deutliche höhere Leistungsaufnahme bescheinigen. Absolute Stromsparwunder sind die Athlon II CPUs allerdings nicht. Dies ist vor allem in der hohen Standardspannung begründet.

Ein Fazit zur Athlon II X4 Serie abzugeben ist schwierig. Für den Preis ist die Leistung sicherlich sehr gut, gerade verglichen mit den kleinen QuadCore CPUs von Intel. Der springende Punkt ist allerdings, dass die kleinen QuadCore CPUs sich nur dann lohnen wenn entsprechend optimierte Software eingesetzt wird. Gerade für Spieler sind die Phenom II X3 CPUs in vielen Fällen interessanter.

Ein Hinweis noch – Aktuell gibt es den Athlon II X4 in 2 Versionen Abzuwarten bleibt inwieweit die “Deneb-Version” im Einzelhandel zu finden ist. Näheres dazu bei PcTreiber.Net.
